Thursday, 12th November 2009 - Boat tour

Awaking at 06:30 am we got ourselves caked in sun protection and went for breakfast. All ready and keen at 08:00 to get picked up and taken to the dock on the north-east of the island, to spend the day on a boat touring the whole of the island. Stopping off at snorkeling hot spots and picturesque beaches.

The first beach we stopped at, we masked and flippered up and jumped in. The fish was everywhere. It was amazing. It took a little while to get used to the snorkeling. But we all managed to get the hang of it in the end.

Then we went touring the island and landed at other beaches for a swim and explore the beach. Around midday we went to a beach and trekked a little to a little waterfall. At this point the sun was so hot and we were reluctant to leave the sanctuary of the shade. We certainly had worked up an appetite by the time we arrived back at the boat. Luckily lunch was ready. A very tasty Thai curry and rice.

While anchored close to shore we picked up two lost back packers. They were on a beach that was isolated and empty. Not sure of the full story. But they came aboard and we took them around the island with us. Our guide helped them find somewhere to stay the night. They were shattered after spending 33 hours solid traveling.

In the afternoon we went and did some more snorkeling. Katy and I got adventurous and decided to dive down to the coral. But the pressure within the ears caused me too much pain and I decided to quite while my ear drums were intact.

Thoroughly shattered we arrived back at port. Ready for a cold glass of beer and a shower before going to the see the sunset at the Amsterdam bar.
