Sunday, 29th November 2009 - So thoughts on Singapore
So we leave Singapore today for Australia, or more specifically Cairns. I have to say I knew I would like Singapore but I was not prepared to fall in love with it. Singapore is the apethesis of Thailand. That is not a critism of Thailand at all. But Singapore is just another world altogether. It is clear to see the influence Great Britain has had on Singapore. It is like a cross between the UK and the USA with Chinese and Asian beliefs.
Chewing gum was outlawed several years ago in Singapore. Yes that right. You are not permitted to buy or chew gum in the whole of the country. Why? Well because they spent upwards of $100,000 a day cleaning the gum off the streets. Singapore is super clean. I have never seen a country so clean and also boasts the cleanest air in Asia.
Singapore is the capital of commonsence. Everything they do is so well thought out and so simple. Every last detail is considered. You have to experience it to understand what I mean.
The MRT is the underground. Normally I hate undergrounds but I can honestly say it was love at first sight. It is great. It is so simple, it is air-conditioned, it runs a train every 3-7 minutes. The only fault is that it stops at midnight. But no worries. The MRT is so clean. You are not allowed to eat, drink, chew gum or carry explosives on the MRT. LOL.
Even Becky liked the MRT and you cannot get an higher compliment than that. Oh on that note. Keep an eye out for 'Becky's s**t guide to Thailand.Available in all major shops 2010. Look out for a blog on the MRT.
